A drop-on-demand (DOD) inkjet printer works by ejecting discontinuous ink droplets directly onto the substrate to be marked. In essence, the printhead dispenses ink only when needed. A heating element inside the printhead creates pressure to force the droplet of ink out the nozzle and onto the printing surface. The resulting print image is composed of these individual “on-demand” ink droplets.
Drop-on-demand inkjet printers are ideal for large character printing due to the nozzle diameter size. Nozzles on the printhead are controlled individually and can create extremely fine droplet sizes. Drop-on-demand inkjet printers can utilize a wide variety of inks to mark on many different types of surfaces. Suitable for challenging production environments that have dust, shocks, and vibrations.

Our DOD valve technology and MPERIA® controller are connected by V-Link, an enclosed module featuring an internal power supply and printhead driver board. Each V-Link drives up to 32 valves (1-4 printheads). Multiple V-Links can be stacked and networked through MPERIA®, providing a flexible and scalable system for small or very large applications.
